Introduction

The National Museum of Cambodia

National Museum of Cambodia was inaugurated by King Sisowath and the French Resident Francois Baudoin on 13 April 1920. The French archaeologist George Groslier designed the museum building with red bricks. The museum comprises four pavilions, facing the pretty garden.

Gallery

The museum houses one of the world’s greatest collections with over 14,000 items of Khmer cultural artifacts including sculpture and ceramics from the prehistoric, pre-Angkorian, Angkorian and post-Angkorian periods. The Museum promotes awareness, understanding and appreciation of Cambodia‘s heritage through the presentation, conservation, interpretation and acquisition of Cambodian cultural material. It aims to educate and inspire its visitors. At the museum, they provide French and English spoken guides for their visitors and they also have an opportunity to purchase books or pamplets.
